Funding – Donations and Bequests

Donations

The Down Syndrome Society of South Australia Inc (DSSSA) is a member of Charity Direct Incorporated; a peak body, representing more than 50 member organisations, that actively promotes ethical behaviour, responsible cost management and compliance with legislation and Code of Conduct. All members of Charity Direct are registered charities and approved tax deductible recipients.

As a registered charity, the Society seeks funds from a variety of sources in order to maintain service provision. Hence we welcome donations of any amount and remind potential donors that gifts of $2 and over are tax deductible.

To make a donation send a cheque or money order to:

Down Syndrome Society of SA Inc

In partnership with Everyday Hero the Society can now accept donations electronically. It is as simple as clicking on the following link. Receipts are issued instantly.

Please keep the Society in mind as a potential beneficiary if your workplace and/or child’s school is having a ‘casual’ or ‘charity’ day. Certificates of appreciation will be issued.

In memoriam donations are gratefully received.

Donations can also be in the form of goods e.g. toys for our resource centre, equipment to be used on camps, or prizes for raffles.

Bequests

A bequest is a gift made through a Will and can be left to people or organisations.

After providing for your family and friends a bequest, whether large or small, to the Down Syndrome Society of SA would be valued greatly as it would help us achieve our vision of “…opening doors together and enriching the lives of people with Down syndrome.”

There are different types of bequests that you might like to consider:

The passing of a loved one is a very emotive time for those grieving so it is important that Wills are drawn up correctly by a Solicitor to avoid any further unnecessary angst.

The Society is not in a position to provide legal advice about bequests however the Executive Director is available to talk about how a bequest might be used if we were to be a beneficiary.
