Welcome
Welcome to our new website!
Our goal was to put together a website that was inviting, informative and at the same time mindful of the Website accessibility guidelines for people with disabilities. We are very pleased to say we're well on the way to achieving that.
Thank you to the Ian Potter Foundation who provided the grant for this project and BMD Web Site Developers who provided the technical expertise.
Whilst we have opened this site to the public please understand that there will still be some kinks that only become apparent when more and more people access the site. Don’t hesitate to let us know about any problems you have (page access, links not working etc) by clicking on the FEEDBACK link at the top of the page. We’d also like to get feedback about other things you would like to see included. Content for some pages is still being developed but our aim is to make it available as soon as possible. For some general navigation tips click on SITE HELP at the top of the page.
Click on the links below to access particular pages or if you have the time feel free to navigate through the menu buttons above.
Don’t forget to add us to your bookmarks and come back soon.
Thanks for visiting.
DSSSA – Who are we?
In 1974, a group of concerned parents formed Down’s Children Inc., now the Down Syndrome Society of South Australia Inc. This group established a service to provide family support and specialist education programs.
Today through Government funding and considerable fundraising efforts, the Society is able to offer a range of services to people with Down syndrome and their families throughout South Australia. Some individuals are born with chromosomal disorders that result in similar characteristics to the child with Down syndrome. These individuals are eligible to access the Society’s services following a referral from a Geneticist or Paediatrician.
