CREATING OUR FUTURE
Volunteers are key to the work of Down Syndrome SA. Each of our volunteers makes an important and valuable contribution to the work of our organisation.
Do you have some time to dedicate to assisting Down Syndrome SA? A variety of work is available for volunteers between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work is available for special events and programs.
TYPES OF ROLES
Special Events: A number of fundraising events are held throughout the year to support Down Syndrome SA. We require volunteers to assist with displays and activities during the year, to help on Leisure and Recreational camps, weekend getaways, Family Fun Day, Melbourne Cup Luncheon, T4321 - Down Syndrome Morning Tea, City to Bay, Rock & Roll Rendezvous as well as Step Up for Down syndrome- our biggest fundraiser of the year. A number of one-off events are held throughout the year where volunteer support is needed and appreciated.
Administration: We need regular assistance with data entry, mail outs, filing and other general administration duties to support the running of the Down Syndrome SA office.
Volunteering with Families: Although this is a specialised area of volunteering, some opportunities do exist in the Service Delivery department, providing support to families at the Early Intervention Stage of Down Syndrome.
Pre Kindy: Supervision of kindergarten children with personal care, assistance with morning tea and supporting general playing, activities, experience and social interaction which are now widely accepted as essential aspects of developing skills and knowledge.
Fundraising for Down Syndrome SA: Our work is reliant on generous community and philanthropic support. We invite volunteer fundraisers to hold their own events and activities to raise much-needed funds for Down Syndrome SA.
Life Education Assistants: To assist education consultants in a teaching and learning environment working with young adults with Down syndrome.
