Consultancy Services
The DSSSA provides an Education Consultancy service to Preschools and Schools throughout South Australia who have a student with Down syndrome (or similar chromosomal disorder) in their student population. For more information about this service refer to (link to relevant page).
In addition the Society offers a ‘User Pays’ Consultancy service whereby training and/or information packages can be tailored to meet the specific needs of schools, organisations and/or interest groups. Interested parties should contact the Society to discuss their need..
Consultancies can be designed around specific areas including (but not limited to):
- Increasing awareness of Down syndrome in general
- Behaviour management strategies
- Provision of training in a particular area e.g. signing
- Relationships and Sexuality (Right To Know)
Organisations outside the Adelaide metropolitan area should not be deterred from considering a Consultancy; our consultants will travel just about anywhere! Alternatively, it could prove more cost effective to send your staff to us.
Recent consultancies have been conducted in and/or for:
- The Sunraysia Down Syndrome Support Group (receive visits twice a year)
- Swan Hill Special School (receive visits twice a year)
- Tasmania
- Northern Territory.
- New Zealand – Invercargill and Tauranga
- Malaysia (an Education Consultant attended a conference and then stayed on en extra day to present a workshop)
